How AxisRemedy handles it
Tested by the app. AxisRemedy tests this condition itself. For each document it records passed, failed or not applicable, and for every failure the object and the page.
What the check covers
Tests each page's own content stream (not form XObjects): a painting operator (text, path paint, shading, image, form) must sit inside an Artifact sequence or inside marked content whose MCID a structure element holds. A page with no structure tree has all its content untagged.
Repairs that target it
- Structure tree for an untagged document (P, Figure, Artifact; every element pending review)
- Running headers and footers as artifacts
- Content outside every tag: held by a new element (pending review) or marked as artifact
- Crop marks and hairline rules as artifacts
Repairs are optional. The few that could change how a page looks, such as embedding a missing font, need your explicit consent.
